Flying Hall School

Flyng Hall School is over 90 years old now and set in the North York Moors National Park, with magnificent views over Robin Hood’s Bay. But it is the community of staff and pupils that creates the family atmosphere and makes the school what it is. We welcome boys and girls, day and boarding pupils of all abilities and we offer excellent teaching (last year we finished 9th in the National Small Schools’ A Level results table) and high quality pastoral care with many opportunities to take part in a variety of activities.

Small we may be, but the school has comprehensive facilities including an indoor and open-air theatre; a sports hall and climbing wall; an all-weather pitch; a cricket and athletics ground as well as our very own ponies and stables. We are also very active in drama and music and produce regular concerts throughout the year.

Our founder chose the school’s motto from a John Masefield poem: ‘The days that make us happy make us wise’ and we believe in this as much today as yesterday.

Pupils come from down the road, around the country or overseas and we have several generations from the same families who have attended the school. This is because Fyling Hall is special.
